Prelude

Cheryl Eve was woken up in a jolt by her master, Dragoz, an urgent message has been sent to him, inviting Cheryl for an audience with the all-seeing Oracle. The reason given for such an urgent meeting was only that a note written,

“The fate of the world lies in the swiftness of your (Cheryl’s) actions.”

Not being unaware of the destruction Meganto can bring, for Cheryl’s parents were killed by Meganto, Cheryl’s heart was gripped with both uncertainty and fear as she proceed briskly into the inner courts to seek out the Oracle.

As the oracle showed her the forthcoming destruction that Meganto is to bring if it is allowed to wander the earth a second time, Cheryl saw that the world will be utterly destroyed in the year 2029, without a single human soul on the planet. With such bleak outlook on the future of the world, Cheryl could not help but prepare herself to use the forbidden technique that her ancestors had so fervently guarded.

She must travel to 2010 AD, even at the cost of her life; to seal Meganto back into the stone relic. Cheryl was greeted with a more light-hearted message however; she will not be alone for this journey, another savior will be raised by the will of the heavens to defeat Meganto.

Cheryl made her final preparations, and bid her last goodbye to her master, Dragoz. Before her final incantation to traverse herself into 2010, the Oracle gave Cheryl her last piece of advice,

“Seek out the other, called Adam; for he carries the seed of hope and the light that will destroy the evil one.”

It was 2029. With the fresh wound incurred on his left chest still bleeding, Mark Adam wept at the lost of his last compatriot, Jimmy. His remaining 12-men platoon from the Special Security Force has been completely wiped out by the dark minions of Meganto. He has no more strength to carry on the fight, and it seems that death is impending. The thought of suicide, accompanied by the not so distant memories of losing his family and platoon members to the reign of the dark lord, is ringing loudly in his mind. Just before he decides to reload his last pieces of ammo and start his “kamikaze” mission, a junior royal scientist rushed down frantically from the time lab.

“Captain Adam, we have done it. We have found a way to travel back into time!”

“This time machine is the soul source of hope to this world. Go back in time, to the year 2010, where Meganto was just released from the relic, and destroy him in his infant state.”

Mark made no qualms about being the first human being to use the time machine. Though it has been heavily tested with primate creatures, the scientist would not want to take the risk of losing a human being to this untested device. With the loss of his closest friends still at the back of his mind, Mark jumped into the time portal and shouted at the scientist to work on bringing him back after he had defeated Meganto.

When Mark reached 2010, Cheryl was already waiting for him. There was no formal introduction of any kind, and the first words that left Cheryl’s mouth was,

“It’s about time you arrived, I’d reckoned the old lady who lives behind the alley moves faster than you, Adam. Now shall we go vanquish some evil?”
